Framed print (reproduced under license) featuring artwork by Ada Dixon from Warlukurlangu Artists. Established in 1985 Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal-owned by its artists from the remote desert communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi in Central Australia.

Presented in an Australian made white frame with double matboard, frames can sit freestanding (kickstand) or be hung on your wall.

Ada Dixon Framed Aboriginal Art Print-Water Dreaming (Puyurru)

The site depicted in the original painting is Puyumu, west of Yuendumu. In the usually dry creek beds are ‘muju’ soakages, or naturally occurring wells. The ‘Kurda’ (owners) for this site are Jangala/Nampijinpa women and Jangala/Jampijinpa men.

In contemporary Walpiri paintings, traditional iconography is used to represent the ‘Jukurrpa’ (dreaming). Short dashes are often used to represent ‘mangkurdu’ (cumulus & stratocumulus clouds), and longer, flowing lines represent ‘ngawarra’ (flood waters). Small circles are used to depict ‘muju’ (soakages) and river bed.
